Position:      Material Handler
Shift:            1st Shift, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
Location:     The Specialty Mfg. Co. – White Bear Lake, MN

Position Description

• The material handler is responsible for the physical movement of inventory in and around the warehouse.
• Nonexempt position that reports to the Shipping, Receiving, and Warehouse Manager.

Essential Job Functions:

• Stage production orders and complete corresponding transactions in the computer.
• Maintain Kanban inventory levels and complete corresponding transactions in the computer.
• Collect finished goods and transport to shipping.
• Put new inventory in a warehouse location and completed corresponding transactions in the computer.
• Maintain good housekeeping of warehouse.
• Cycle count inventory.
• Report inventory discrepancies.
• Identify, recommend and notify appropriate people of any quality system problems.
• Safely use all equipment supplied for the above tasks (forklifts and pallet jacks).
• Any other duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements:

Education:

• High School diploma or GED required, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

• Previous warehouse experience a plus.

Knowledge/Skills:

• Computer skills
• Forklift experience / license
• Must be able to read write and speak English
• Strong attention to detail
• Must be able to work with limited supervision

Physical Requirements:

• Factory environment.
• Must be able to maneuver / lift 40 pounds continuously.
• Work must be performed on site during normal SMC business hours.
• Ability to relate to people and their equipment problems
• Ability to perform welding, pipe fitting, carpentry and electrical duties
• Working knowledge of HVAC a plus
• Must be able to work in a team environment
• Strong written and communication skills
• Basic PC skills
