Position:    CNC Machinist
Shift:          1st and 2nd Shifts
Location:   The Specialty Mfg. Co. – White Bear Lake, MN

Position Description:

The CNC machinist is responsible for set up and machining quality parts in safe manner to produce parts that meet SMC’s quality standards using Nakamura/Swiss-Citizen machines in a timely manner while minimizing the waste of materials and resources.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Salary: $17.00 – $32.00/ DOQ

Duties and Responsibilities: (Not limited to the following)

• Verify and perform machining functions called out on work orders
• Set up and operate a variety of CNC machining equipment including Manual Machines
• Operate machines and produce consistent quality parts to specifications in the time frame allowed
• Support problem-solving small group activities and Lean events
• Accurately complete all required paperwork at completion of the job
• Perform routine minor maintenance
• Maintain a clean work area consistent with our 5S requirements
• Be able to inspect parts using standard QA tools
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

• Understand and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
• Understand and apply metric measurement while measuring devices and inspection
• Strong mathematical skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Must be able to work overtime
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be able sit or stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to work with limited supervision

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Minimum of 5 years of experience required
• Certifications a plus
