Position:     Shipping Lead
Shift:            1st Shift
Location:     The Specialty Mfg. Co. – White Bear Lake, MN

Position Description:

• The shipping lead oversees the shipping clerks. Helps organize the shipping area and coordinate the daily activities of the shipping staff.
• Nonexempt position that reports to the Shipping / Receiving, and Warehouse Manager.

Essential Job Functions:

• Stage and fill orders with all required labels and paperwork.
• Schedule trucks and special pick-ups.

  • FEDEX
  • TRUCKS
  • CUSTOMER PICK-UPS
  • PRIORITY/VANEX SERVICE
  • Other shipping services as needed
• Receive inventory from in-house assembly and outside vendors per SMC procedures.
• Complete international/DHL orders.
• Help train shipping staff and help manage their day-to-day activities.
• Communicate with Customers, Vendors and suppliers via e-mail and phone.
• Schedule inbound/outbound freight using most cost-effective manner.
• Troubleshoot inventory discrepancies and rectify inventory accordingly.
• Any other duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements:

Education:

• High School diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

• At least two years of warehouse experience. Shipping or receiving experience is a plus.

Knowledge/Skills:

• Computer skills
• Forklift experience / license
• Read, write and speak English
• Must be able to work with limited supervision

Physical Requirements:

• Factory environment.
• Work must be performed on site during normal SMC business hours
