Job Title: Senior Buyer
Job Type: Full Time
Location: The Specialty Mfg. Co. – White Bear Lake, MN
Job Summary:
The Senior Buyer is responsible for strategic sourcing, contracting and inventory planning activities for assigned commodities to achieve and maintain pricing, quality and delivery objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:(Not limited to the following)
- Identify, develop and implement process improvements related to departmental Purchasing and Planning policies, procedures, and work instructions. *
- Develop, evaluate, and manage supplier relationships to achieve material cost, quality, availability (delivery), and inventory goals.
- Plan and incorporate strategic purchasing plans to reduce cost.
- Maintain supplier quality and delivery through assessment, evaluation, and ongoing monitoring.
- Troubleshoot/analyze quality and/or delivery problems and work with the supplier along with the appropriate Specialty department(s) to resolve issues and eliminate production interruptions due to material shortages.
- Understand and communicate supplier capabilities and capacity.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to influence and negotiate.
- Requires good oral and written communication skills.
- Solid mathematical and PC skills.
- Strong working knowledge of MRP systems.
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements a plus (i.e REACH, ROHS, etc) .
- Understand supply-chain management.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, or engineering or equivalent experience.
- APICS and CPIM a plus
- 5 years of materials related experience, preferably procurement experience
