Position:    CNC Machinist A – Lathe/Milling
Shift:           1st Shift (Mon – Fri 6:00 am – 2:30 pm)
Location:   The Specialty Mfg. Co. – White Bear Lake, MN

Position Description

The CNC Machinist A is responsible for setting up and machining quality parts per specifications using CNC and/or manual machines.  This is a hourly postion that reports to the Floor Supervisor.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Verifies operations to be performed and material to be used on each job as directed by the standard work, Team Leader, or Group Leader.
  • Sets up CNC equipment using Quick Change Over (QCO) methodologies.
  • Ability to create and troubleshoot CNC programs on machine control.
  • Ability to select tools for a new job and trouble shoot tooling issues on existing jobs.
  • Support problem-solving small group activities.
  • Operates machines and produces consistent quality parts to specifications in the time frame allowed.
  • Uses measuring devices and blueprints to inspect parts for quality. Responsible for adherence to 1st Articles and Quality Plans.
  • Uses hand tools, grinders, abrasives and other special deburring tools to remove sharp edges from machine surfaces.
  • Accurately completes all required paperwork at completion of job.
  • Maintains a safe work area.
  • Maintains a clean work area consistent with our 5S requirements.
  • Performs routine minor maintenance.
  • Any other duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements:


  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational-Technical degree or equivalent experience.


  • Minimum of five years of CNC Machining experience.
  • Setup and operation of all types of CNC machining equipment, understand and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, metric measurements, measuring devices and inspection equipment, shop math, problem solving, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Work on a variety of molding machines and/or machining related equipment.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs routinely.
