Position:    Production Supervisor
Shift:          2nd Shift
Location:   The Specialty Mfg. Co. – White Bear Lake, MN

Position Description:

  • Ensure production schedule adherence while meeting quality, cost, and safety goals.
  • Works under direction from the Plant Manager to facilitate planning, organizing, and scheduling of work assignments.
  • Non-exempt position that reports to the Plant Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities: (Not limited to the following)

  • Working with the Plant Manager and Production Planner to execute the master schedule
  • Providing daily job assignments and monitor machinist performance
  • Leading entire second shift operations while delivering key performance indicators (safety, quality, cost, and service)
  • Monitoring in-process quality and notify Plant Manager and Quality Supervisor of non-conforming parts
  • Monitoring job performance and variances when completing job closeouts
  • Providing work direction to machinists, and execute quarterly performance appraisals
  • Assisting and monitoring in-process inspection including trained use with gages, vision systems and CMM operation.
  • Coordinating with appropriate areas to resolve cost, quality, delivery, & material issues
  • Working with engineering to insure accurate work instructions, routings, programs and machine layouts

  • Any other duties as assigned by management

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of Machining, skilled in blueprint reading and interpretation; mature interpersonal skills; demonstrated leadership ability; proven management skills in staffing.
  • Shop and office environments
  • Most work must be performed on site during normal SMC business hours

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Two-year technical degree preferred, with preference for education in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience
  • 4-6 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
