Position:    Floor Supervisor – Machining
Shift:             1st Shift
Location:    The Specialty Mfg. Co. – White Bear Lake, MN

Position Description

  • Ensure production schedule adherence while meeting quality, cost and safety goals
  • Works under direction from the Plant Manager and Planning staff to facilitate planning, organizing, and scheduling of work assignments
  • Non-exempt position that reports to the Production Plant Manager

Essential Job Functions

  • Work with the Plant Manager to execute the master schedule; provide input to the Planner concerning line capacities
  • Develop individuals including:
  • Provide input with hiring and training needs
  • Conduct timely quarterly 1 on 1 meeting with all direct reports
  • Foster continuous improvement mentality among the team
  • Participate in Lean Events
  • Coach individuals and teams towards self-direction, while building strong relationships that foster trust and accountability
  • Coach, mentor, and train individuals to successfully achieve cross-training goals
  • Must be able to fill in for all Lead and Machining positions when necessary
  • Must be able to fill in for the Plant Manager when necessary
  • Monitor and address Variance and Labor efficiency trends
  • Monitor in-process quality and notify Plant Manager of non-conforming parts
  • Assist in implementation of new product, both SMC Product and SMC Integrated Services
  • Coordinate with appropriate support groups to insure material delivery adherence
  • Coordinate with appropriate areas to resolve cost, quality, delivery and material issues
  • Work with Engineering and Quality staff to insure accurate drawings and inspection requirements throughout the life of a product
  • Any other duties as assigned by management

Job Requirements

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Two-year technical degree preferred, with preference for education in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience

Experience:

  • 10+ years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years machining experience desired
  • 2-3 years team leadership experience desired

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledgeable in aspects of machining skills, blueprint reading and interpretation; mature interpersonal skills; demonstrated leadership ability; proven management skills in staffing, performance management and development, conflict resolution
