Position:      Human Resources Coordinator
Department:      Finance/Administrative
Location:     The Specialty Mfg. Co./SPM – White Bear Lake, MN

Position Description

  • The HR Assistant will perform daily procedures that support the Finance and Human Resource Departments.
  • This is a nonexempt position reports directly to the HR Manager.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for employees in the organization on a weekly basis.
  • Process required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
  • Assist in the coordinate training sessions for new employees.
  • Responsible for orientation and entry of new hires in system.
  • Maintain proper files and documentation in accordance with Company policies and applicable State and Federal laws.
  • Process paperwork for hourly employees, including, but not limited to, employment verifications, benefit elections, and new hire paperwork.
  • Assist with company events and programs.
  • Create, maintain, and communicate a checklist and timeline for the new hire orientation and on-boarding process.
  • Assist with planning and execution of special events, such as, benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.
  • Act as main backup for the front desk receptionist
  • Any other duties as assigned by Human Resources.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Postsecondary education strongly preferred.

Experience:

  • 2 plus years of HR and payroll experience preferred.
  • 2 plus years of customer service experience
  • Previous administrative work experience desired

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Solid organizational, mathematical, and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong social skills, ability to interact with employees, customers and visitors.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:

  • Works in office environment.
  • Work must be performed on site during normal SMC business hours.
